Pope Benedict has proclaimed October 11, 2012- November 24, 2013 the Church’s Year of Faith.  October 11, 2012  is:
- the 50th anniversary of the opening of  the Second Vatican Council
- the 20th anniversary of publication for the Catechism of the Catholic Church
October 7-21, bishops from around the world will convene with Pope Benedict  for their General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops,  to discuss the synod’s theme, “The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith.”

(Printable sheet music for a simple three-part Advent counterpoint for class/assembly/prayer service/Christmas concert.  Hint:  try teaching the three parts to three distinct groups.  Have the first group run through once; as they begin the second time, have the second voices come in and sing it through; on the third time through, bring the third group  in, and have all three groups sing the piece together 5 or 6 times. St. Valentinus and Valentine’s Day Activities
February 14th is the feast day of Saints Cyril and Methodius.  It is also affectionately known to children as Valentine’s Day.  Most children that day will be passing valentines to one another.  Younger ones may be making valentines-related crafts to bring home for their parents.   Here are some links on the martyr St. Valentinus, which may help staff relate Valentine’s day activities to our Catholic history and faith.  There are also some links to Valentine’s day-related colouring and crafts activities for children.
