Funds Request for Famine in South Sudan, NE Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen

The Canadian government has launched a Famine Relief fund to respond to the severe famine affecting South Sudan, NE Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen.  20 million people are in danger of dying after having fled their homes due to armed violence and severe drought.  Development and Peace – Caritas Canada has responded with a letter to Canadians requesting funds.  They are present in the region and working closely with the most vulnerable populations in these areas.  Donations made to Development and Peace and Caritas for the Famine Relief Fund before June 30th will be matched by government funds.  Development & Peace’s Famine Relief Fund Page has further details.  Donation forms can be downloaded here.  Development & Peace lesson plans to address this famine crisis through various parts of the K-12 curriculum are posted below:

Understanding how long-term development and emergency aid and relief go hand-in-hand in

New Pearson Canada Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ Series

Pearson’s Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ (GFGC) series is replacing the CCCB’s Born of the Spirit Religious Education program.  Renfrew County Catholic School board has purchased full Grade 1 – 3  programs.  This includes:
– print materials (manuals, texts, big books, posters)
– licenses for digital resources (text, interactive student materials, adult faith modules for teachers).
We will continue with our system-wide purchases each year as new grades are published.
